Teaching the Curriculum
The key skills that underpin our curriculum.
Study Support within the Curriculum / Cefnogarth astudio o fewn y cwricwlwm
Every year each subject area benefits from a range of activities within lesson time that enhances the curriculum, bringing it to life in a vibrant and relevant way. These workshops, visits, long-term projects etc. are often cross-curricular reinforcing the pupils’ understanding across wide areas of the curriculum e.g. Artists in Residence Projects, Indian Dance Workshops, Business Awareness Days, Industry days.
Careers and Work Experience / Cyrfaoedd a phrofiad gwaith
The World of Work features throughout our pupils’ education. In Year 9, pupils are supported through Careers Guidance offered in conjunction with the Careers Service. Year 10 pupils select ‘taster days’ in a variety of settings before choosing a location for one week’s work experience.
Homework / Gwaith Cartref
We expect all pupils to do homework, believing that this reinforces their classroom learning and enables the teacher to gauge the pupil’s work independently. We strive to make homework relevant, interesting and varied and encourage the use of modern technology. A well-equipped and comfortable environment is available in both the library and the Learning Centre if required.
